This Blogger Makes Fun of Stuff is word-of-mouth gone Internet.
We are a collaborative review, crafting, cooking, mish-mash of everything you need to live daily life, blog written by women, who happen to be moms, living in Virginia, California and Texas. Our leading guideline is to tell the truth, which not only sets us free, but makes for hilarious posts that our readers trust.
Alex of Late Enough began this site after she googled reviews for a board game she wanted to buy her son. Every review said exactly what was already on the box. Oh, and added YAY! I GOT THIS FOR FREE! Now she had 10 boring, unhelpful reviews that had no influence whatsoever on her decision to purchase the gift. This annoyed Alex and diluted the point of bloggers reviewing products.
She decided to do something about it. Alex found some awesome bloggers, Carrie and Leigh Ann and created a collaborative review and giveaway site with a one leading guideline: Tell the truth. The site grew into writing about everything we love from Carrie’s healthy recipes to Alex’s love of going green to Leigh Ann’s easy to do craft projects with her kids, but we still love to reviews everything from the exciting to the mundane because we use both and so do our readers. Sometimes these are requested reviews; other times, we just really want our readers to know about a product. We disclose every time going beyond FTC guidelines but in keeping with our conscience and respecting our readers’ trust.
If you, as a reader, want to know the truth about a product in a helpful and (often) hilarious way, we are the website for you to read and follow.
I went from an B.A. in political philosophy to a medical degree to a stay-at-home mom, poet and writer by 30. I love my BFF iPhone, books, movies, dancing, going green, drinking coffee and my husband. I also have a soft spot for aliens, alienation, culture, politics and rude Southern people who offend my Yankee sensibilities. I parent a 5-year-old boy, a 2-year-old girl and 4 cats who are all Southern but not rude. Yet.
I am a wine drinker, cook, reader, and runner living in Los Angeles. I have a husband and a son and road rage. So I also go to therapy. A lot. In my precious little free time I practice yoga and knit the same scarf over and over again. My writing reflects my interests, including food, the ups and downs of parenting, and finding myself. I am sometimes funny, sometimes rude, sometimes inspired but always honest.
I’m a lucky wife to an amazing husband and a pretty good mom to 4-year-old twins and a 2-year-old honey badger. I’m an art school grad turned banker. Turned super mom. Turned blogger and freelance writer. I vow to call myself a “professional” one day in something other than butt-wiping. I read books to make me feel literary, and I work crosswords so I don’t get Alzheimer’s. I’m a pretty good cook, a mediocre housekeeper, and a horrible photographer. Despite thinking I’m quirky, I’m probably average.
