I Am Doing Valentine’s Day This Year and You Can Too

I normally blow off Valentine’s Day as a Hallmark holiday.

I don’t like chocolate. I don’t need new teddy bears since my teddy bear I’ve had all my life, Tubby, can kick all the other teddy bears’ butts. I appreciate a good pair of undies and bouquet of flowers, but feel free to skip the jewelry because I’ll just lose it.

But this year, I’ve decided to look at Valentine’s Day as an opportunity to show people I love them. Too many people find themselves feeling lonely and down because it’s February 14th, and I’ll just not have it.

So I sent off all of my flower bouquets to some of the lovely people in my life through ProFlowers. They were cheaper than 1800Flowers this year, and with each purchase, I got a coupon code for another one. I haven’t used them before so hopefully cheaper is just cheaper and not uglier because I don’t want to be padded on the back and told by my love ones, “Well, it’s the thought that counts.”  (I’ll update this post after Valentine’s Day.)

I also sent chocolate strawberries through Edible Arrangements, which were ridiculously reasonable and made me wish I had more family who liked chocolate.  They also have flower bouquets made out of fruit for anyone still keeping a New Year’s resolution on healthy eating {shudder}. We’ve used them before (the fruit flowers are honestly delicious) so I feel confident in this purchase.

I wanted my kids to get something that was delivered to the house, but I’m pretty sure flowers would be a bit of a let down so I went with a delicious cookie bouquet to my kids through Cookies by Design.  Um, I may or may not have added 2 extra cookies to the bouquet for my husband and I because this store happens to be my favorite place to GET delivered to my house. Not cheap at all but worth every penny.

So I’m excited for Valentine’s Day this year and my husband is completely stressed out because he has to get my something for the first time in a long time.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Love your disclaimer. I’m a big fan of general love, and if we can use 2/14 to spread said love – let’s do it! Great ideas.

Damn it, woman! I was going to be all bah-humbug about Vday this year. You know, get a heart shaped pinata and beat the candy out of it, that sort of thing.

NOW I’m all, “Wow! Alex is right! It’s about love and I have so much love in my life. Bring on the hearts and flowers!”

*sigh* I’m going to blame you for the pink glitter explosion.

    • A pink glitter explosion would be the best thing I was blamed for in a long time.
I’m glad you remembered how much love you have although a good pinata isn’t something to turn down lightly.
