A Photo Book of Guilt

Here’s my terrible secret. There were no pictures in our house of my second child, N, until her first birthday. The week before, I order photos, filled the “First Year” photo frame and put it on the table by the food so guests would realized how adorable she has alway been and how much we clearly love her.

Now she didn’t notice that first year, and I’m used to feeling guilty so it seemed like a small and honest mistake. Until two months ago. She started looking for pictures of herself. I happily pointed out the baby pictures we had! From last year!

Where me, mama? That’s a baby.

I finally pulled up my computer and set up an N slideshow. And I ran out the next day to frame the picture of her on her first day of preschool.

So adorable!

And she carries the framed picture around with her like a knife in my heart.

So when Shutterfly and Clever Girls contacted me about their Spring Celebration series, which included a free photo books or announcements for me, I immediately thought of my spring baby. And the terrible plight of being child number two.

I went with a photo book for N to be able to carry around as proof that we love her. And we love free stuff. I did consider rewriting Shutterfly’s birth announcements as “guilt announcements,” but why bother when I can announce my guilt right here.

Guess what? You can have one, too! Not a photo book of N, but you’re welcomed to make a photo book of your own guilt!

This post is part of a series sponsored by Shutterfly. I was selected for this sponsorship by the Clever Girls Collective, which endorses Blog With Integrity, as I do.

I was compensated for this post, but my guilt was a much bigger motivator than money and a free photo book. If you would like to know the specific requirements and compensation for this post, please email us.

I have pictures up around the house…but my kids baby books are well…sad. Half done, not done. Someday, they will curse me and my lack of recording their babyhood…

So, perfect timing; we leave for disney tomorrow and will be making Roo a book upon our return. Therefore, I should win. Or have more coffee, now, because it is my Spring Break and I have been up since 6……. sigh

Lastly, I have no clue what RSS (sp?) is….

    • RSS (really simple syndication) is what links a blog to a “blog reader” like google reader or mac reader. some people use those to follow blogs instead of email. (or facebook etc..)

I have photo books of all our pre-baby vacations. Theyre mostly full of scenic shots.

I have lots of photos of Alex

I have almost no framed shots of him (I think the count is 1) and not q single photo book. Apparently his first birthday is not as important as landscapes

Before Christmas 2010 I hadn’t printed a single picture of KG (or any for that matter) since May of 2008. I had TAKEN a MILLION pictures but they were all on my computer. Right before we had Christmas at our house I printed a billion pictures and hung up a photo collage right smack in the living room so everyone could see our beautiful little girl. Oops!

Loge my daughter. Loved to scrapbook. It was easy to keep up with when on maternity leave and when she took several naps a day, but not so much as a toddler. Finally got more supplies and looked to see how far behind I was. I had stopped at 4 or 5 months and she’s now 17 months. Proud to say I am now caught up, but I would still love a free photo book! :-)

  15. Abby says:

I’ve been meaning to put together a scrapbook from our honeymoon that we took to Disney in 2007. I even bought the book and the stickers and the doodads and the whatnots.

It’s still sitting in my closet, only now it’s just collecting dust.

I think a great way around all the guilt would be to present my husband with a book of photos from that vacation. This free book would be perfect for me!!
